Medicare – Child Dental Benefit Schedule (CDBS)
The Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) commenced on 1st January 2014 and took the place of the Teen Dental Vouchers. At Ballarat Family Dental, we bulk-bill all patients eligible for CBDS so that any treatment billed under the scheme and within the limit attracts no extra fees to the patient.
CDBS provides access to benefits for basic dental services to children aged 2-17 years of age. This program is means tested, which means all eligible children, their parents, carer or guardian must receive an Australian Government payment such as Family Tax Benefit. The total benefit entitlement is capped at $1,052 per child over a two calendar year period.
The $1,052 entitlement covers a range of services including examinations, x-rays, cleaning, fissure sealing, fillings, root canals and extractions. It does not cover for orthodontic or cosmetic dental work. View a complete list of the Government payments entitled to this program.
